C-TPAT refers to Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism. Initiated by CBP (US Customs and Border Protection) as a volunteer program in Nov 2011 after the 9.11 Events, C‐TPAT seeks to safeguard the world's trade industry from terrorists. Today, more than 10,000 certified partners have been accepted into the program, including U.S. importers, rail and sea carriers, licensed U.S. Customs brokers, Mexican and Canadian manufacturers etc., which account for over 50 percent (by value) of what is imported into the United States.
